京都府の伝統工芸に携わる職人と、長年に渡り伝統工芸の商品開発に取り組んできたデザイナーが手を組み、新たな価値を生み出すプロジェクトとして、活躍の場を広げてきたPrecious Kyoto.　プロジェクトを率いる京都のデザイナーである山下順三氏とのご縁を頂き、今回こちらで展示をさせて頂く運びとなりました。伝統工芸に携わる職人の方々と共に、日本の美しい伝統工芸品を国内外に発信していきたいという山下氏の思いに賛同し、新たな試みとして企画した展示となります。

仏具や神具、表具、陶器、漆器、織物など、古来より京都にて脈々と受け継がれてきた伝統美と洗練された技術を用いて、アート作品として新たに生み出された、京都の職人の方々の匠の技をぜひご覧ください。

PRECIOUS KYOTO is a project bringing together craftspeople from Kyoto with designers who have a long history working with traditional crafts to create new artistic forms of expression.

We are honored to have the opportunity to present this exhibition, thanks to the connection we have with Mr. Junzo Yamashita, a designer from Kyoto who is leading this project. Mr. Yamashita is deeply passionate about sharing the beauty of traditional Japanese crafts with the world, in collaboration with skilled artisans who are dedicated to preserving these traditions.

In Kyoto, traditional craft techniques such as those used to create ritual implements for temples and shrines, as well as mounting, ceramics, lacquerware, and textiles, have been passed down through the generations. These time-honored traditions, combined with refined craftsmanship, have now given birth to new art pieces. We invite you to appreciate the masterful skills of Kyoto’s artisans, whose works blend the beauty of tradition with modern artistry.
